Making Hyperlinks work when Flattening

Screencast Video Overview

The reason hyperlinks don't work when exporting the entire powerpoint, is that the links become flattened into the one big image. Here are two options to make hyperlinks work.

Option #1

  1. Select the text box, object or shape that has the hyperlink
  2. Select Do Not Flatten
  3. Export to PDF / PPT

This means the link on the image or textbox will not be flattened.

Option #2

If you have an image with a link, but you want the image to still be flattened, but not the hyperlink, this option might suit you better.

  1. Create a new shape in front of the image
  2. On this shape set the hyperlink
  3. Make the shape transparent
  4. Click on Do Not Flatten for this transparent shape

This means that the image will now be flattened, but over the image the hyperlinked shape remains. It won't be visible, but it will look like you can still click the image.
